PHPed Review Product Reviewed: NuSphere PHPed. Version: 3.3.1 Platform: Windows | | PHPed is a very complete PHP IDE (Integrated Development Environment). Chock full of features and flexibility. Although a PHP editor, editing is not limited to PHP. It also includes editing for HTML, Perl, CSS, C++, Javascript and Python.
I have read all the hype about NuSphere PhpED and was anxious to give it a test drive. I must admit, when it first opened the editor, it was a bit overwhelming, somewhat cluttered and a little confusing. I quickly learned how configurable it was. When I say "configurable" I mean CONFIGURABLE! Just about anything on the interface can be configured to your liking.
Some of the most mentionable features include.
Color Coded Text.
PHPed has it's own pre defined color coding schema and does a terrific job of it. I did find it somewhat disappointing that any HTML included within a PHP document was not color coded also. Most editors color code the HTML when you click on it.
NuSOAP Wizard.
PHPed includes a NuSOAP wizard. It will help generate php code to get data from SOAP servers.
Powerful Debugger.
The built in debugger follows through your code and checks variables and statements as they execute. This IDE also has the ability to debug live sites.
Code Templates. The code templates have the most popular functions and examples of how to implement them. You can also add your own functions and examples.
Some features I would like to see added to this IDE.
Poor Syntax Coloring.
Once a document is set to a particular language, that is the only syntax that gets colorization. PHPed does not color different code. This makes coding PHP and HTML in the same script difficult.
No Folding.
I would like to see the ability to fold functions out of site; this is a nice feature to make coding large files a little bit easier on the eyes.
Needs A Code Beautifier.
Even though I do indent, I like to have a code beautifier to make uniform readable code. PHPed does not have one built in.
Who should buy this product?
PHPed is really designed for someone that has experience in PHP coding. Without any experience you will not understand many of the features this application has.
All in all, I would rate PHPed 4 out of 5.

Although traditional security solutions protect Internet infrastructure layers, they do not guard against HTTP and HTML attacks. Many organizations that conduct security testing still deploy applications that allow attackers to manipulate their logic and wreak havoc on their business. To mitigate this risk, development and delivery teams must address Web application security throughout the lifecycle, addressing the many layers detailed in this paper. FREE! Go There Now!
