Are you a newbie to PHP? This is the book that you should start with. I bought two books on PHP in a feeble attempt to learn it. Those two books were later found to be terrific books but I was lacking foundation. This book takes a fresh approach to learning PHP and MySql. Visual Illustrations help straighten the learning curve. Starting out with installation and configuration for both Linux and Windows. It quickly takes you into the basics of building database tables. I recommend following this book from start to finish. When you complete this book you will be able to code a contacts database complete with cookies and user authentication, send e-mail, and interact with your file system. There are too many functions covered in this book to cover them all in this review but, if you are just learning PHP this book should be on your "must have list.
