Fedora 10 Released - Documentation and Wiki Site

To help you get started, Fedora 10 comes equipped with a lot ofdocumentation. If English is not your native language, documentation for Fedora 10 is available in many otherlanguages. You can get it in not only French, Italian, or Spanish, but also in it is available in Indonesian, Norwegian, Polish, German, and many others.

If you’re ready to install Fedora 10, then use the installation guide. Before you download the document, you can look at itsTable of Contents. Other types of documentation you can download include Release Notes, Desktop User Guide, and Managing Software with Yum. If you need to find the latest bug-related news on Fedora 10, you can get a list of Common Fedora Bugs.

For those of you who want to collaborate, the Fedora Project has aWikisite. The Fedora 10 project has several sub-projects to which you can contribute. For example, some of the information you can find on the Wiki site are hard drive or USB drive installation for Fedora Live CD or using SELinux to enforce mode and other security features by default. You can also go into the Fedora Live CD list, and contribute your ideas.

    Dominant Choice for Workstations

Professionals and companies have chosen Fedora 10 as their operating system for workstations and web servers. Two reasons they like Fedora aresecurity and audit capabilities. You won’t find these in previous versions of Fedora. For example, in relation to security, Fedora 10 has an audit utility known as Sectool. Sectool consists of system tests that allow you to identify configuration issues, such as firewall, permissions, as well as other system security functions.

Fedora is flexible in that it can be installed on various systems, including servers, workstations, notebooks, and netbooks. You can use Fedora in both virtual and physical environments. As previously stated, you can download and distribute this operating system, however, there is a catch―you must stay on top of the news and releases when it comes to Fedora. This is because there is no technical support for Fedora. You will also need to make sure that you upgrade your Fedora operating system once a year.

    Joining the Fedora Community

As previously stated, the Fedora Project is committed to an open andcollaborativeeffort. To be a part of this community, all you need to do is create an account. It has several modules in which you can participate.

For example, you can take part in the Fedora People module. You can take advantage of its free web space to host Fedora-related content. Another module you can participate in is Fedora Planet, which updates you on other things that are happening with Fedora. If your passion is writing about technology, be a part of Content Writer, where you can create FAQs, articles, release notes, how-to guides, knowledge base, process or methodology documents. On the other hand, if you’re web designer, you can contribute by creating icons, web design, banners/flyers, or materials, such as CD covers or T-shirts.

Check out other areas in which you might be interested. Fedora 10 has a place for everyone to contribute. This operating system is constantly changing and growing, so if you want to be part of the excitement, sign up.
