    Get a named.ca file. you can get this from ftp.rs.internic.net FTP in, cd to the "domain" directory and get the named.ca file. You should not have to do this very often my file is about 3 years old.

    Now if you installed DNS on your default installation you will now have to make it start on boot.

    For Redhat do a ( chkconfig named on )

    Then start it manually /etc/rc.d/init.d/named start

    Look for errors. 99% of the time the error will be you forgot a period. This was written as a down and dirty DNS tutorial. For more information visit http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/DNS-HOWTO.html

    You can make sure it is running, and on what Process ID by doing a

    /etc/rc.d/init.d/named status
