Create Your Own Custom API - The "Test" Step

The final step, as with any production, before release is TEST. Test and test often. I had a good ol' time building and rebuilding and building again because I didn't test enough. Most of my issues came up when I was generating the XML messages. I chose the XML DOM method, you can choose another, obviously. That's the whole point of this tutorial - to show there are other options outside the norm. Don't limit your work to what other's have done - if you find limitations in other methods - there's always something else, or another way. Just think - you master this and you've learned something most developers will never understand because they limit themselves to what others have already created. Lastly - have fun building your customized web service! :D

    About the Author

Nathan is from Fayetteville, AR. In high school he failed his first ever computer science class and was told he should choose another field of study. Ever since then he's been going to school to get his degree in computer science (and still is - 7 years to become a junior). He works as a web developer for a small family business currently and also does freelance work. He's also a 2nd degree black belt and martial arts instructor and on the weekends ever 2 or 3 months a full contact fighter (in the ring).
